Changes To Packer O-Line

GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) Green Bay Packers’ coach Mike McCarthy has confirmed a shake-up in his offensive line. He tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that right tackle Bryan Bulaga will move to left tackle, with the job of protecting Aaron Rodgers’ blind-side.

Marshall Newhouse had trouble in that role last season, giving up a team-high 11 sacks. Newhouse will still have a chance to compete for the starting right tackle job, along with second-year pro Don Barclay and top 2011 draft pick Derek Sherrod – who missed all of last season after he broke his left leg in his rookie year.

Also, the two starting guards will be flipped. T-J Lang will move from left guard to right guard, trading places with Josh Sitton. Evan Dietrich-Smith will remain the starting center for now.

McCarthy says Bulaga and Sitton are his most experienced offensive linemen, and both will face added challenges on the left side. Bulaga missed the latter half of the 2012 season with a hip injury.
