Four Merrill residents face charges for drinking inside a car at gas station

by

MERRILL, Wis (WSAU) - Four Merrill residents are facing charges after being caught drinking while in a car at a gas station.

The incident happened 11:00 Saturday morning when a suspicious car pulled alongside an off-duty Lincoln County deputy who was filling up his gas tank. The deputy noticed a person inside the car was drinking a can of beer. He called for backup, and two more deputies arrived to interview the occupants of the car.

A 19 year old Merrill woman and a 15 year old Merrill girl are now facing underage drinking charges. A 23 year old Merrill man faces an open intoxicant charge, and 19-year-old male driver of the car faces absolute sobriety charges.

All four have been released from jail to responsible parties.
