MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) The Milwaukee Brewers have the Majors’ worst record in May, and the Los Angeles Dodgers are the fourth-worst. But one of those teams will be forced to win tonight, when they play each other at Miller Park.
Milwaukee is just 3-and-14 in May, after losing 8-of-10 on the road to their fellow National League Central opponents. The Dodgers are 4-and-12 this month, after losing at Atlanta 5-to-2 yesterday.
Brewers’ shortstop Jean Segura currently leads the N-L with a .364 batting average – and he’s hitting .465 over his last 10 contests.
The Dodgers have infielder Mark Ellis back, after he missed 19 games with a strained quadriceps. He went 0-for-4 in his return yesterday. Matt Kemp, whom many thought should have been the M-V-P in 2011 instead of Ryan Braun, has a career-low slugging percentage of .340 this season. Kemp was 1-for-13 in the weekend series with Atlanta.
Right-hander Yovani Gallardo starts for Milwaukee tonight, against the Majors’ E-R-A leader Clayton Kershaw.
