Disher's bond unchanged, permission to visit hospitalized wife granted

STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) -  One of the three defendants accused of cashing a family member’s social security checks since the 1980’s is in jail awaiting an October 21st jury trial, another is hospitalized with a serious illness, and a third remains jailed unable to have his bond modified Tuesday.

Ronald Disher, his wife Dolores, and Dolores’ brother Charles Jost face several charges related to Dolores and Charles’ missing mother Marie Jost. Marie Jost has never been found, and her social security checks have been consistently cashed since the early 1980’s.

In court Tuesday, Ronald Disher requested his $1,000 cash bond reduced, but that was denied. Disher also requested the court to allow him to see Dolores in the hospital, and permission to attend the funeral if his wife does not recover. Judge Thomas Flugar ordered the Sheriff’s Department to arrange for attending a funeral if necessary.

Meanwhile, investigators are waiting for tests from a Texas laboratory to see if bone fragments found on the Jost property belong to Marie Jost. She hasn’t been seen since about 1980, and would be 101 years old if still alive.
