STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) - The man accused of causing the death of a toddler he was babysitting has new trial dates set.
Reymundo Perez is accused of causing the death of his girlfriend’s two-year-old boy while babysitting at his home. Perez is charged with two felonies, including first-degree reckless homicide. Perez had told police that he threw the child to the ground because he wouldn’t stop crying. The boy died two days later at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
After three postponements and other delays including the availability of expert witnesses, Perez’ trial will begin with jury selection February 26th, and testimony heard from February 27th through March 7th.
The boy died October 26th of 2011. Perez remains in jail, unable to make bond.
