UNDATED (WSAU) -- State officials are reminding hunters to be safe as they get ready to get out in the woods to hunt.
Archery season is underway, and while there's less of a chance of shooting accidents, a number of hunters are already hurt in tree stands accidents and other incidents.
Hunters should be using a safety harness whenever they are in a stand, and should be using it to get in and out as well. Bow hunters will also be able to bow hunt all through the gun deer season, so long as they wear the proper blaze orange gear while in the woods.
You should also bring basic safety equipment with you as well. Officials recommend a cell phone, a first aid kit, and a whistle to signal for help. Most of all, people should know where you are, where you're going to be out hunting and where they can come find you if you don't come home.
