Matthews Expected Back Today

GREEN BAY, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Clay Matthews is expected to practice today for the first time since he broke his right thumb on October sixth.  The Packers All-Pro outside linebacker will play with a customized club to protect the thumb.  Matthews had pins removed from the injured thumb on Monday, and he expects to play in Sunday's Packer home contest against Philadelphia. 

Outside linebacker Andy Mulumba was rotating in Matthews' spot until he was carted off with an ankle injury in Monday night's home loss to Chicago.  Packers' coach Mike McCarthy said he's not sure about the rookie's playing status -- but he said Mulumba was doing a lot better yesterday. 

Also, Packers' offensive tackle Derek Sherrod was taken off the physically unable to perform list yesterday.  The 2011 first-round draft pick was activated after being out since December of 2010 when he broke his left leg in a Green Bay loss at Kansas City. 

McCarthy did not have an update yesterday on the Packers' other "PUP" players -- Jerel Worthy, Sean Richardson, and J-C Tretter.
