Bucks Sanders Has Thumb Surgery, Out Six Weeks

MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Milwaukee Bucks' center Larry Sanders will be out for six weeks, after he had surgery yesterday to fix a ligament in his right thumb.  The Bucks confirmed that Sanders suffered the injury in a November third altercation at a downtown Milwaukee night club.  Prosecutors investigated the incident, but did not file criminal charges.

The Bucks play at Miami tonight, and Sanders is just one of several Milwaukee players battling injuries.  That includes Sanders' back-up, Zaza Pachulia, who missed practice yesterday with a sore foot after heavy-duty playing time in Milwaukee's last two games against Dallas and Cleveland.

Also, guard Luke Ridnour has had two cortisone shots to reduce pain from a sore back.  He has not played at all during the regular season.  Starting power forward Ersan Ilyasova is still out with a bad right ankle.

Bucks' coach Larry Drew said starting point guard Brandon Knight will play more tonight against the Heat.  He returned Saturday after being hurt in the season opener.  Knight played 15 minutes in the loss to the Mavericks.

Also, Drew said he could not confirm forward Carlos Delfino's report on his Web site that he'll need more surgery on the foot he broke last spring.  Delfino said it would put him out for the season.
