MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) The Marquette men crushed Grambling State at home last night, 114-to-71 in Milwaukee. The 17th-ranked Golden Eagles surpassed 100 points for the first time since December of 2010 when they had 102 against Mississippi Valley State. Also, the 114 points were the most for Marquette since they racked up 118 against U-W Milwaukee in 1969.
The Eagles also extended their home winning streak to 27 games, the second-longest in the N-C-A-A's Division-One.
Marquette took charge early, leading by as many as 23 in the first half. The Eagles shot 55-percent, while holding Grambling State to 28-percent. Marquette scored 76 points in the paint, and out-rebounded the Tigers 56-41.
Chris Otule led the way with 17 points. Steve Taylor added 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Chandler Thomas scored 26 for Grambling State, which lost its 30th straight game is now 0-and-2 on the young season. Marquette is 2-and-0, and will host 10th-ranked Ohio State on Saturday.
