MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) -- Groundbreaking took place in Marshfield Friday for a new student housing apartment building. Patricia Stuhr is the Dean and CEO of the U.W. Marshfield -Wood County Campus, and says the housing will accommodate up to 94 students in “modular units,” and will be for the U.W., for Mid State Tech., and other students as well.
According to Stuhr, the new housing units will replace the old dormitory which was demolished this summer and was found to contain some asbestos. The project is being built as a public / private partnership between the U.W. Foundation and “Bluffstone Company,” Wood County, and the City of Marshfield. Marshfield’s City Council voted last June to transfer $4100 for the project from an existing fund, originally set aside for other improvements to the U.W. The new housing units are expected to be completed by August of 2014
