MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) -- Marshfield residents will see their city taxes go up in 2014 for the first time in nearly eight years.
Marshfield’s Common Council has agreed to set a tax increase of 2.4 cents, raising the rate to just under $8.98 per thousand dollars of assessed property value. The previous tax rate was $8.95 per thousand.
City administrator Steve Barg says, unfortunately, the cost of running the city just keeps going up.
The tax rate is determined in part by how much new development is anticipated in the city, and the impact that makes on the city’s tax base.
