ST. PAUL, MN (WSAU) - Jeffrey Trevino has been found guilty of killing Kira Steger. A jury of eight men and four women reached that decision late Tuesday afternoon.
The jury had three choices. They could find him guilty of 2nd degree homicide with intent to kill, 2nd degree homicide without intent to kill, & not guilty. The jury found Trevino guilty without intent, as her death happened during an altercation where he confronted her about having an affair and wanting out of their marriage. The autopsy showed Steger was probably smothered.
Steger was last seen alive on Feb. 21. Her body was recovered from the Mississippi River in St. Paul Minnesota on May 8th.
Trevino’s sentencing date has not been set.
