MADISON,WI (WTAQ) - The Wisconsin National Guard is the latest victim to the federal government shutdown.
The monthly training scheduled for this weekend has been canceled and will be rescheduled once the funding appropriations are made available.
Guard spokesman Major Paul Rickert says the postponement effects over 10,000 soldiers and airmen.
The Wisconsin National Guard says around 1,000 federal technicians have been furloughed and will not be getting paid unless legislation is approved for retroactive pay.
The Guard will be available to respond in the event of a state of emergency.
