WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) The next Never Forgotten Honor Flight from Central Wisconsin is Monday, October 21. Organizers say they're going, regardless of whether the government shutdown is resolved.
Allowing World War II veterans to visit their memorial has been one of the controversies surrounding the government shutdown. At least two groups have pushed past barricades. Now the National Parks Service says it will allow veterans groups to tour the memorial.
The Never Forgotten Honor Flight says it has a special permit that will allow it to access most memorials, except for the Iwo Jima memorial which is on the grounds of Arlington National Cemetery.
This will be the 14th honor flight to take off from Central Wisconsin Airport.
