GREEN BAY, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Green Bay Packers’ coach Mike McCarthy says he’ll decide on Friday whether receiver James Jones can play on Sunday against Cleveland at Lambeau Field. Jones missed Wednesday's practice with a sprained P-C-L knee ligament suffered last Sunday at Baltimore.
Also, McCarthy said linebacker Nick Perry will be out for a “couple weeks” with a broken foot suffered against the Ravens. He’s been ruled out for Sunday’s home contest against the Browns – along with Clay Matthews, James Starks, and backup tight end Ryan Taylor.
McCarthy said he didn’t know right away that Taylor was hurt after the Ravens’ game. The coach said Taylor had surgery that went well. Outside linebacker Mike Neal missed practice Wednesday with a bruised shoulder. Starting inside linebacker Brad Jones sat out with his hamstring injury, but he could return on Sunday.
Corner Casey Hayward was limited at practice, and has yet to play in the regular season after a bad hamstring injury. Corner Jarrett Bush fully participated in today’s workout, as he gets over a hamstring injury.
McCarthy also said 2011 first-round draft choice Derek Sherrod will take part in his first fully-padded practice today. Sherrod broke a leg in December of 2011 in a Packers’ loss at Kansas City.
