UNDATED (WSAU) A 13-year-old boy from Shawano County will have to register as a sex offender, even though the public won't know the specifics of his crime. An appeals court ruled on Friday that the boy will be on the sex offender list even though his name hasn't been made public since his case was heard in family court.
The 13-year-old was found guilty of sexual assault while babysitting. There are about 1,500 juvenile sex offenders on the state's 23,000-name sex offender list.
Law enforcement would be aware of the boy's crime and future addresses as he moves. Generally, juvenile crimes are removed from a person's permanent record when they turn 18. Being on the state's sex offender list is for life.
