MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Junior Guerra and Wily Peralta are no longer in the Milwaukre Brewers’ bullpen.
Peralta has been designated for assignment. He started the season in the starting rotation, but was moved to a relief role after eight starts. He injured his right calf and was on the disabled list for a month before turning in two poor performances, including a seven-run inning last Thursday against the Washington Nationals. He leaves with a 7.85 ERA.
Guerra, meanwhile, is still in the organization, but he’s been optioned to Triple-A Colorado Springs in exchange for relief pitcher Wei-Chung Wang. Guerra only has one win as a starter this season and a 4.96 ERA across 13 games.
Kirk Nieuwenhuis is back on the Brewers’ major league roster as a pinch hitter, according to manager Craig Counsell. He’s had a .221 batting average in Triple A this season.
