St. Louis, MO(LEARFIELD-WSAU) The Brewers will go with a six-man starting rotation for the rest of the season. Manager Ron Roenicke said last night it would give him a chance to further evaluate rookies Johnny Hellweg and Tyler Thornburg.
They'll get at least three more starts along with Yovani Gallardo, Kyle Lohse, Wily Peralta, and Marco Estrada. The Brewers are scheduled to play every day for the remaining 19 days of the season, with no more days off.
Roenicke says he also hopes to give Triple-"A" call-up Jimmy Nelson a start before the year's over. Nelson is currently in the bullpen.
Meanwhile, Brewers' outfielder Khris Davis missed his fourth straight game last night with inflammation in his left wrist. Roenicke said Davis is still sore -- and the skipper says he's disappointed he's missing so much time. For now, he's day-to-day.
