Brewers Win On Suicide Squeeze In 9th

MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Logan Schafer had a walk-off suicide squeeze bunt to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 4-to-3 win over the Chicago Cubs last night at Miller Park.  The Cub defense did not see it coming.  Jeff Bianchi easily ran home from third base to give Milwaukee its third straight victory and its fifth-in-six-games.

Justin Grimm took the loss.  He's 0-and-2.  Jim Henderson threw a scoreless ninth inning to get the win.  He's 5-and-5.  Marco Estrada had another solid start for the Crew.  He struck out seven in seven innings, giving up three runs.

Estrada only gave up a pair of singles in his first six frames.  In the seventh, Ryan Sweeney hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game at one -- and then Wellington Castillo hit a two-run homer to put the Cubs in front 3-1.  Milwaukee tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when Carlos Gomez hit a two-run blast.  Gomez went 2-for-3 with three R-B-I's on the night.  Norichika Aoki ended an 0-for-13 slump with a single and a triple.

The Brewers now have 42 three-baggers for the season, which leads the Majors.  The Cubs' loss was their fourth straight, and the sixth in their last seven.

Fourth-place Milwaukee has opened up a four-and-a-half game lead over last-place Chicago in the National League Central.  The two teams play again tonight.  Right-hander Tyler Thornburg goes against Cubs' left-hander Chris Rusin.
