PLUM LAKE, Wis. (WSAU) - A ground search in Vilas County prompted by a hunter finding some clothing has led investigators to human remains near Plum Lake.

Investigators are now analyzing the evidence to see if the remains are from a missing Sayner woman that disappeared in April of 2012. Sandra Schinke was last seen April 5th, 2012 walking along county highway "N" about 2 miles east of Sayner.

The hunter found a shoe and a small jacket, and thought it was out of the ordinary and contacted authorities.

Vilas County Sheriff’s deputies, Wisconsin State Patrol, DNR wardens, and other agencies searched the area and found the remains. Forensic specialists will try to establish a positive identification by using dental records.

The location of the human remains is only about a mile and a half from where Schinke disappeared.
