Brad Sherwood and Colin Mochrie teach kids about improv and laughter at Sentry Theatre

STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) - Two actors from television's Whose Line is It Anyways took time out of their day on Thursday to give a show on improv to sixth graders.

The two actors put on a hour long performance at the Sentry Theatre punctuated with humor and creativity. Actor Colin Mochrie says kids shouldn't be afraid of being creative. "It's good for them to see people using their imagination, and doing things that they'd thought 'Oh, we'll have to stop doing this when we're 10.' But no! You can go on forever and make a nice career out of it."

Brad Sherwood says the work of the actors on Whose Line has helped elevate improvisational theatre to the front of people's awareness. "And that really didn't exist before Whose Line because no one really knew what improv was so they couldn't teach it. But then the show comes on, and now you've got this whole vocabulary of games that you can use to get kids out of their shell and think more creatively."

The two brought ideas from students to the stage in an hour long performance on Thursday. They'll be teaching a class to UWSP students this afternoon ahead of their show tonight at the Theatre @1800 at Sentry Insurance.
