URGENT: Video shows beheading of second American journalist

DUBAI (Reuters) - The Islamic State militant group released a video purporting to show the beheading of U.S. hostage Steven Sotloff, the SITE monitoring service reported on Tuesday. A masked figure in the video also issued a threat against a British hostage, a man the group named as David Haines, and warned governments to back off "this evil alliance of America against the Islamic State", the monitoring service said. Massive storm brings big snow totals to northern half of Wisconsin

SUPERIOR, WI (WTAQ) - Almost a foot-and-a-half of new snow fell at Superior the past two days, as a massive storm hit the northwest part of the Badger State.

Forecasters expect the snow to spread Friday afternoon into the rest of northern Wisconsin.

Places close to Rhinelander could get total accumulations of a foot or more. Central Wisconsin might get 1 to 6 inches.

Freezing rain is due to continue in eastern areas, and showers are predicted for southern Wisconsin before it all clears out to the east Friday night. That's when a low pressure system in Michigan will head further east.

Far northwest Wisconsin was expected to get the brunt of the storm, and that's proven to be true. 17.8 inches of new snow fell near Superior, and 14.5 near Poplar.

Baldwin in St. Croix County had eight inches and counting earlier Friday. Eau Claire had just over five inches by mid-morning.

Some of the new snow, but not all, is expected to melt Saturday with sunny skies in the forecast. Highs are projected to be close 40 in the north and 50 in the south, with sounds winds bringing even milder temperatures on Sunday.
