STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- The 90FM Trivia Weekend is back and turning 45 this year.
Billed as the World's Largest Trivia Contest, Trivia organizer Jim Oliva says a massive number of teams have already signed up for the contest. "As of last night, we've had 229 teams registered with 5762 players."
The Contest is the largest annual fundraiser for the student run station, and helps keep the programming on the air. Oliva says the 90FM Trivia contest along with other events throughout the year have helped keep the station on the air for students. "With declining budgets and lack of interest, many of the state student run stations have converted over to being Wisconsin Public Radio or just gone to streaming over the internet." Students take part in all facets in the process, from running clues to manning the phones to taking on air shifts through the 54 hour event.
Oliva says registration is open all week. "Today through Thursday it's three until seven, and the day of the contest is noon until six." The 90FM Studios are just south of the Dreyfus Center on Reserve Street on the UWSP Campus.
