MERRILL, Wis. (WSAU) -- The prosecution has rested its case in the murder trial of Mark Bucki. The 50-year-old Merrill man is accused of killing his estranged wife Anita last April.
The last of the prosecution’s nearly 40 witnesses took the stand Friday. Several law enforcement investigators testified. The court also saw the video of an investigator’s interview with Mark Bucki saying he had to be a suspect, knowing he was involved with another woman and his wife wanted to save the marriage.
The jury will remain sequestered at a Merrill hotel over the weekend. On Monday, they will begin to hear the defense’s side of the story and their witnesses. With five days done, attorneys believe there could be four more days before the jury gets the case. So far, defense attorneys have not said if they will put Mark Bucki on the witness stand.
