MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Despite getting the first run of the game, the Milwaukee Brewers weren’t able to hang on against the San Francisco Giants in extras Saturday night.
A four-run outburst in the 11th inning led the Giants to a come from behind victory against the Brewers Saturday night, in a 9-6 game. Trailing 2-1 with two outs in the ninth, the Giants tied the game with an RBI triple from Tommy La Stella and ended up scoring eight runs over the final three innings. San Francisco used nine different pitchers in the game while the Brewers used 7 pitchers including starter Brandon Woodruff.
Multiple members of the crew had a 2-hit game on Saturday including Willy Adames, Eduardo Escobar, Tyrone Taylor, and Lorenzo Cain. Adames and Cain also had two RBI’s on the evening. But despite tying the game in the bottom of the 10th with two home runs from Luis Urias and Adames, it wasn’t enough to overcome the 4-runs in the 11th from the Giants.
On the mound, starter Brandon Woodruff spent 6 innings throwing 8 strikeouts and allowing 8 hits with one home run. He was relieved by John Curtiss in the 7th. Getting the loss for the Crew was Sal Romano who pitched in the 11th inning, allowing 4 hits and 4 runs with no strikeouts and 3 errors.
The Brewers will try to win the series against the Giants Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:10 p.m. with pregame coverage beginning at 12:35 on WSAU.
