Braun's Injury Not As Serious As Once Thought

MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Ryan Braun may have gotten a break with the injury in his right rib-cage area.  An M-R-I yesterday showed that the Brewers' right-fielder has an oblique strain -- not the more complex inter-costal strain between the ribs.  

Braun says the M-R-I will determine a more exact course of treatment -- and he's getting those treatments twice a day for now.  Meanwhile, shortstop Jean Segura looked better yesterday as he gets over a severe cut under his right eye suffered when Braun accidentally hit him in the head with a bat in the Milwaukee dugout on Saturday night.

 There's still no timetable for either player to return.  Jeff Bianchi is starting in Segura's place at short.  Elian Herrera is taking Braun's spot in right.  For now, the Brewers have no other outfield options for their 25-man roster.  

Logan Schafer is due to return this weekend from a bad hamstring, and he's on a rehab assignment at Class-"A" Brevard County.  Caleb Gindl is the only other outfielder on Milwaukee's 40-man roster, and he's at Triple-"A" Nashville for now.
