MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) Brewers' starter Jimmy Nelson has been named the Pacific Coast League's pitcher-of-the-year for the time he spent at Triple-"A" Nashville.
It's the second straight season that a Milwaukee pitcher won the honor. Johnny Hellweg was the P-C-L's top pitcher a year ago.
Nelson had 16 starts and one relief appearance for the Nashville Sounds, going 10-and-2 with a one-point-four-six E-R-A and 114 strikeouts in 111 innings. Nelson led all of Minor League Baseball with his E-R-A. He also led the minors by limiting opposing hitters to a .179 average.
