CRANDON, Wis. (WSAU) -- A girl's diary has lead police to arrest a Crandon man for sexual assault.
Police say 57-year-old James Branam Junior assaulted a 12-year-old girl while in a transitional living facility. Police were tipped off about the crimes when the girl's father found entries in the girl's diary talking about the assaults.
Branam is now being charged with 1st degree sexual assault of a child, child enticement, and repeated sexual assault of the same child. Court documents says he told police he thought the girl had a crush on him, but everything that happened was non sexual.
Branam remains in jail on a $50,000 bond and will be back in court for an adjourned initial appearance February 19th.
