WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Marshfield man will serve prison time for two separate cases involving sexual crimes against children.
Tylyn Hoover was sentenced in Marathon County court for possession of child pornography and to sexually assaulting a teenage girl back in 2014.
The images Hoover was in possession of were nude photos of the teenage girl he assaulted in the previous case. During that trial, he was sentenced to a deferred charge that would drop off if he stayed out of trouble during the length of his probation. The discovery of the images in 2018 voided that.
Hoover will now serve three years in prison for each charge and eight years of probation. Additionally, he will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Police were tipped off to the images by Hoover’s probation officer. The photos were found in a secret app on his phone, which appears to be a calculator but actually serves as an encrypted and password-protected folder for storing photos and videos.
