UNDATED (WSAU) A man who escaped from a half-way house in Merrill eight months ago has been caught in Milwaukee. Christopher Meindel had served jail time for operating a series of meth labs in Lincoln County.
Police reports say he cut off his monitoring bracelet in May, 2013 and hadn't been seen since. He'd made a series of on-line posts since then, warning police that he was armed and wouldn't be taken alive.
He was arrested in the parking lot of a VA facility in Milwaukee. He refused to identify himself to police. His name and the warrants for his arrest were confirmed after his fingerprints were matched in a state data base. Knives, two air guns, and meth were found in his car.
Meindel was held overnight in the Milwaukee County jail, but will be eventually be sent back to Lincoln County to face escape and parole violation charges.
