PLYMOUTH, WI (WTAQ) - Plymouth police are investigating what they believe may be a case of human trafficking.
Deputy Police Chief Christopher Ringel says they got a call about a 16-year-old girl around 2:45 a.m. Monday.
"She appeared cold, distraught, so our initial contact was we were more concerned about her," Ringel said. "Why is she here in Plymouth, and can we get her some help."
When officers spoke with her, she told them she was being held against her will and led police to a home.
Officers went to the house on N. Milwaukee Street around 7 a.m. Cops tried to contact those inside the home. Several people tried to run from the house but got back inside after realizing the building was surrounded.
Then just after 10 a.m., the SWAT team arrived. After a standoff, cops took a 24-year old man into custody on human trafficking charges. A 25 year-old man was also taken into custody on an unrelated burglary warrant and the 16 year-old female on an unrelated juvenile warrant.
