WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) -- Work on the Grand Avenue reconstruction project moves north of Townline Road this morning.
Project manager Matt Bronson says they'll be following a similar method to the first half of the construction. "We're going to be closing the inside lanes first so we'll have a single lane in each direction open. And a number of side roads will be closed, but we will have some other roads that will be open for the duration of the rest of the project."
Bronson says access to Townline Road will be maintained through the project. "Townline will be open for construction but there will be staging of construction during the project to complete the pavement work in front of and by the signal." You can expect delays with truck traffic going through.
Another new addition to the project is expanded bike lanes along Grand. Bronson says that's due to the change in how the road is set up. "We removed the inside corrugated median, and that afforded us an opportunity to widen our outside lane for better bicycle accommodations on the street." He's reminding drivers to keep three feet between themselves and bikes on the road.
Construction is expected to last through October. You're reminded to take it slow in work zones.
