Bombers Drop Chucks & Rest Of NWL Scores

Wausau, WIS – The Wisconsin Woodchucks fell to the Battle Creek Bombers 9-5, thanks in part to two four-run innings for the Bombers.

The game remained scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when Battle Creek (7-9) put a crooked number on the scoreboard. After already scoring two runs in the inning, Sebastian Diaz belted a two-run home run to give the Bombers a 4-0 lead.

The Woodchucks (10-7) cut the lead to three thanks to a solo home run from Brendon Hayden.

After tacking on one run in the fifth inning, the Bombers scored four more runs in the seventh inning. Four hits helped score four runs in the inning which was highlighted by a David Richards IV two-run double. Richards IV was a thorn in the side of the Woodchucks as he went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored. The four runs in the inning were crucial thanks to a late rally by the Woodchucks in the eighth inning.

The Woodchucks found some life in the bottom of the eighth inning when they tried to rally scoring four runs. The Woodchucks used two singles and two sacrifice fly balls to plate the four runners in the inning. That would be the closest they would get as the Bombers ended the rally in the eighth and ninth inning.

The Woodchucks and Bombers will finish their two-game series tonight. First pitch is set for 7:05 at Athletic Park with fireworks to follow the game. ou can hear the game on Foxsports Radio AM1390 & FM 93.9
