WAUKESHA, WI (WTAQ) - Parents in the Waukesha School District say the book “Looking for Alaska” by John Green contains inappropriate language and advanced sexual content.
Nonetheless, after a school board committee meeting held Friday night, that book is still available to students.
Ellen Cox says she doesn’t think the book is suitable for middle or high school students. It was recommended reading for her daughter by an AP English teacher.
The parents can appeal Friday’s decision by the board of education.
Two other books are also being challenged by parents – “The Kite Runner” and “Chinese Handcuffs.”
