WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) A trial date has been set for an inmate-attack in the Marathon County jail. Fredrick Morris will have a 3-day jury trial starting on July 8th.
In March, 2013 Morris refused to return his tray after meal-time on cell block C. He wouldn't return to his cell. He then attacked two corrections officers. Denny Woodward suffered minor injuries, was treated, and then released. Officer Julie Christensen was severely beaten. She was in a coma for several months with a head injury. She has since recovered and returned to work.
Morris entered not guilty pleas to two counts of assaulting a corrections officer and aggravated battery. He could face up to 18-years in prison.
He's been held in the Lincoln County jail since the attack.
Morris was incarcerated about a month before the incident on drug charges.
