STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) -- The Stevens Point Police Chief is applying for an additional job. Kevin Ruder would like the open seat on the Stevens Point school board.
Ruder says he applied for the opening Thursday. The board will appoint someone to fill the unexpired term of Renae Sheibley, who resigned at the end of May.
Ruder’s daughter just graduated from SPASH. He believes his experience and unique insight can help the school district.
The school board will meet Monday. During that meeting, they are expected to discuss filling the board vacancy and the process for finding a new superintendent. Current superintendent Attila Weninger has already told the board he will not stay past his present contract, which ends next June.
