Police: Bodies in separate suitcases are unidentified women

TOWN OF GENEVA, WI (WTAQ) - Authorities near Lake Geneva now say that two dead bodies found inside separate suitcases last Thursday were females -- and apparently, they still don't know who the victims are.

Geneva Town Police Chief Steven Hurley said Monday that one was definitely an adult, while the other appears to be an adult. The FBI and the state Justice Department are helping county and town officers investigate.

A highway worker was cutting thick grass along a roadside when the suitcases were uncovered. A police officer later opened the suitcases, and found one body in each of them.

Autopsies Friday by the Waukesha County medical examiner did not turn up possible causes of death.

Chief Hurley still frames the discoveries as an "isolated incident," assuming a murder investigation. The chief said a crime had occurred elsewhere.
