WESTON, Wis. (WSAU) -- A police training exercise confused some residents in the Weston Tuesday night.
The Everest Metro Police Department notified immediate neighbors about an active shooter training exercise at DC Everest Junior High School yesterday, but not everyone got the word. Police Chief Wally Sparks says some of the talk on police radios prompted people to call off a ballgame at Kennedy Park.
Sparks says the training Tuesday night and again Wednesday will include the use of police radios, and he’s asking people to remain calm as it is just a practice session. The Chief says training like this is essential so officers can be prepared in case a real incident ever took place.
