WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) A convicted sex offender will be released in Wausau next week. Wausau police are giving advance notice to the community about Gary E. Waters, who is scheduled to move into transitional housing on July 1st.
He was convicted in 2001 of sexual assault of a minor. He was found guilty of having sexual contact with at least two girls over a two year period. He tried to keep in contact with one of them after he was arrested, leading to additional charges of bail-jumping and intimidating a witness.
Waters will be supervised by the State Department of Corrections. He'll wear a GPS tracking device and will not be allowed in areas where children are present. He'll also have to register his address with the state's sex offender registry for the rest of his life.
