MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU)For the second game in a row, Colorado teed off on Milwaukee Brewers’ pitching for a 5-to-2 Rockies’ victory last night at Miller Park. After a 10-nothing shellacking of the Crew on Monday, Colorado churned out a dozen more hits last night — including six doubles.
Nick Hundley went 3-for-4 with an R-B-I. Nolan Arenado and Troy Tulowitzki each had a pair of hits — and both knocked in a run. The Rockies went up 4-zip before Milwaukee finally scored for the first time this season in the fifth inning.
Logan Schafer had an R-B-I while grounding into a double play, and Carlos Gomez then doubled home Jean Segura — who was struck in the head by a pitch, but stayed in the game. A fastball from Lyles hit the bill of Segura’s helmet and bounced off his nose.
Brewers’ starter Matt Garza lasted five innings, as he gave up four runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts. Garza took the loss.
Jordan Lyles picked up the win for Colorado. He went six frames, giving up two runs on five hits with a walk and a pair of “K’s.” Ex-Brewer LaTroy Hawkins got the save.
Milwaukee will try to salvage a victory tonight, when the Brewers and Rockies wrap up their first series of 2015. Right-hander Wily Peralta faces Rockies’ right-hander Eddie Butler.
