MILWAUKEE, WI (LEARFIELD-WSAU) The Milwaukee Bucks today signed forward Tony Mitchell to a ten-day contract. He has spent much of the last two seasons with the Bucks' Developmental League team in Fort Wayne.
The 6-6 Mitchell was the league's rookie-of-the-year last season, and he's a two-time winner of the D-League's Slam Dunk Contest. General manager John Hammond says the Bucks can use a scorer at small forward, after the team bought out Caron Butler's contract and let him go to Oklahoma City.
Mitchell played in China last fall. He returned to the Fort Wayne club in January, and has averaged 19 points and five rebounds this year. He went undrafted out of college, after leaving Alabama in 2012.
