MOSINEE, Wis. (WSAU) -- Fire damaged a recycling truck inside of a building Thursday afternoon in Mosinee. The fire was at Industrial Recyclers of Wisconsin, or IROW, in the industrial park and started after 4:30 p.m.
Mosinee and Kronenwetter firefighters put out the blaze, which Mosinee Lieutenant Chris Sparby says, was limited to the vehicle. “We ended up with a truck engine on fire. It ended up being a fully-involved fire inside of the building, which we consider a structure fire at that point. We came on scene, had heavy smoke coming from the building, proceeded to go inside, found that there was a truck inside, proceeded to put flames out and ventilate the area.”
The fire caused heavy damage to the front of the waste hauling truck, and started after the IROW staff had left for the day. “The building structure is fine, nothing really burned on the inside. It was contained to the truck and the contents that were inside it.”
The badly-burned truck was towed outside, and crews cleaned up the mess inside. There was some damage to the recyclable materials in and around the truck, but no damage to the building.
