MARSHFIELD, Wis. (WSAU) -- Marshfield’s Fire and Police Commission will conduct the search for a new police chief themselves instead of hiring a consultant.
Commission President Randy Gershman said, “After just recently having just gone through the experience of hiring a new fire chief, we felt that as a commission at least at this point we’re not looking at hiring an external consultant. We feel we have some practices in place, and a process working with the city to find to find the right police chief.”
There’ll be both an external and internal search for the next police chief, and the position has already been posted regionally. Current Chief Gary Jepsen’s retirement becomes official on May 15th, ending his career of more than 30 years with the department and the last four years as police chief.
