Wisconsin Rapids police investigating Sunday shooting incident

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAU) -- A Sunday afternoon shooting incident in Wisconsin Rapids has police trying to unravel who pulled the trigger.

Police were called around 2:30 on Sunday after dispatch reported calls of gunfire near the 3000 block of Eighth Street South. Police pulled over a vehicle in the area after the call and questioned a number of people. Lt. Brian Krzykowski says they really don't have much at this time. "Nobody was injured that we're aware of, nobody was killed obviously, we have not located any weapon. Based on the conflicting statements we don't have any charges on any of the subjects at this time either."

Krzykowski says police are now trying to piece everything together but the parties aren't being cooperative. "Right now our goal is to, number one, find out what the difficulty was to prevent this in the future, and number two, to find out who actually fired off a weapon and bring those people to justice I guess you would say." He says no one in danger. "Just two groups of people who know each other, it's more of an isolated incident between them. The public's not in any danger of them."

If anyone has any information, you can call Wood County Crimestoppers at 877-325-7867.
