CRANDON, Wis. (WSAU) -- A Crandon woman accused of killing a toddler by backing a vehicle now has a trial date set.
Shanice Stands will be tried by a jury starting June 25th in Forest County court. She was 17-years-old when she allegedly was high on marijuana and drove a vehicle, striking and killing a 3-year-old boy in September of 2010. Stands did not have a driver’s license, only a learner’s permit issued in Minnesota.
Stands is charged with homicide by negligent use of a vehicle and homicide by a vehicle while using controlled substances.
This is not Stands’ only run-in with the law. She has several other cases involving vehicles, drug use, battery, and bail jumping. Some of those cases are still not resolved.
Stands is currently free on a $100,000 signature bond.
