What started as a car chase in Wausau Wednesday led to a search warrant and seven arrests for drug trafficking. Marathon County Special Investigations Lieutenant Randy Albert says it all started with pulling over a vehicle for having different license plates on the front and back of the car. Albert says the driver ignored the officer’s attempt to pull him over, and fled, eventually crashing the car. That’s when officers found drugs inside the vehicle.
The police then obtained a search warrant for the house at 806 1/2 South First Avenue, where the driver had been. Albert says the house had two locked doors and a very high quality and portable security camera system so the occupants could see who was coming and going. Albert believes that security system gave the house occupants enough time to flush several drugs down the toilet before they got inside.
Albert says the people involved in this drug trafficking operation have been known to move frequently to avoid being caught.
Seven people are in custody. They are Matthew R. Gesicki , Arthur L. Shaw, Keyanna R. Sather, Ty L. Ament , Jessica L. Buck, Justin J. Hipke, and Eugene K. Schmidt. The Marathon County District Attorney’s office is preparing charges against all seven, which include 13 felonies and several misdemeanors related to possession with intent to deliver drugs and maintaining a trafficking place.
Initial court appearances could take place for all seven suspects Friday.
