WAUSAU, Wis (WSAU) — A Clintonville man that led police officers on a high speed chase last month through two counties pled not guilty to multiple charges on Wednesday.
58-year-old Randall G. Wilson was bound over for trial on charges of fleeing an officer while operating a vehicle, first-degree recklessly endangering safety, and operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
Police say he took a black GMC Yukon from a Clintonville dealership and led several police agencies on a high speed chase March 17th. The chase ended in Rib Mountain next to the Highway 51 northbound on ramp from Rib Mountain Drive.
Wilson was found competent to stand trial at a hearing last week. Wilson’s attorney told the court his client has bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. According to court documents, Wilson told officers he heard voices on the radio that told him to keep going. He claimed he was going home, which he claimed was in South Dakota near his mother with the Oglala Sioux nation.
Wilson remains in jail on a $50,000 cash bond. He’ll be back for a pretrial conference April 28.
