GREEN BAY, Wis. (WSAU) — This coming Thanksgiving, you can enjoy Turkey, the Bears playing the Packers, and raising of Brett Favre’s number 4 jersey to the Lambeau Field facade. Both ESPN and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel are reporting Thanksgiving is the day the long anticipated jersey retirement ceremony will take place. Neither is revealing their sources, and the Packers organization hasn’t commented.
Packers President Mark Murphy did ask the league last week for special scheduling consideration regarding Favre’s ceremony, but didn’t release details.
Favre’s uniform number 4 will be retired during his July 18th induction into the Packers Hall of Fame, but the jersey won’t be put up on the Lambeau Field facade until the Thanksgiving Day game November 26th. Favre’s agent Bus Cook did tell ESPN they were hoping to make the event coincide with a Packers-Bears game.
The full NFL schedule is to be released Tuesday night after 7 o’clock.
