MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WSAU) — The Brewers’ Wily Peralta bounced back from a dismal outing last week to get the win Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds. Milwaukee won 4-1 in the afternoon game at Miller Park. Peralta struggled with velocity and control problems last Tuesday in Cleveland, but did very well against the Reds. Peralta’s fastball was only moving around 89 miles per hour last Tuesday, but was back up around 95 miles per hour Sunday.
It was a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the third inning when Jonathan Lucroy hit a two-out RBI single to left field. That scored Martin Maldonado for the go-ahead run. The Brewers added two insurance runs in the eighth inning. Maldonado led off the eighth with a double and then moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Logan Schafer. Jean Segura then hit a triple to the corner in right-field to score Maldonado.
Francisco Rodriguez came back from his first blown save of the year on Saturday to pitch a perfect ninth inning earning his 31st save.
The Brewers have Monday off, and then host the Pittsburgh Pirates starting Tuesday. Jimmy Nelson is scheduled to pitch for the crew in the series opener.
