STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) — From now on, citations for certain late property taxes in Stevens Point can be issued directly from the Comptroller-Treasurer.
The City Council voted to allow citations to be written by the Comptroller-Treasurer for items related to his elected office. That elected official is Corey Laddick, who says there is one specific area where this will come in useful and save police time. “Typically, they’d be citations for late payments for mobile home taxes, and that’s something that our office does keep track of, and then we would send a request previously to the City Attorney and then to the Police Department to handle the citation process. Because of demands on their staff time, they’ve asked us to pick that up and take care of the entire process.”
Property taxes on mobile homes are collected monthly from mobile home park operators. This change allows Laddick’s office to issue the citations directly without police involvement.
